The Engagement
Bouquet
In the Vietnamese tradition, FI provides the bouquet for me and gives it to her during the Lễ Đính Hôn. So I requested one with pink blossoms, mainly of roses and peonies, which he will design. This was my inspiration for it.
Bouquet Wrap
FI saw me eye-ing some ballerina wraps and he said he would have an attempt at it! Now that's love from a crafty and thoughtful future husband. (Did you know he crochets scarfs for me, too?)
Hair Tradition
Traditionally with the ao dai (dress) and khan dong (headdress), hair is put up.
Hair Inspiration
I'm not very picky about hair so I'm letting my hair dresser from Paul Mitchell Salons be as creative as she wants. But these are some of my inspirations I will suggest to him or her.
Paper Parasol to go with ao dai
Make-up
I am getting my make-up done by Diana Varga Makeup. But if I were going the DIY route, I would make an appt for a MAC, Sephora, or ULTA for a consultation and got the products they recommended to recreate the look I want. I like products designed for hi-def camera.
Planning Tips
TIP: A salon manager told me that if you were going to go with hair extensions, choose real instead of synthetic hair. Real hair is easier to curl, straighten, hair spray, and stays put better. It can also be dyed to match your hair color.
TIP: My MUA's mantra is "Moisturize!" She swears by it. If your skin is oily, it is no excuse to use oil for hydration. If you deprive your skin from hydration, the oil glands will overproduce oil.
TIP: My MUA suggests: don't neglect your brows and get them professionally waxed. Having a great brow shape does wonders to eye lift and makes a huge difference in your look.
TIP: In my experience, I was usually unhappy with my make-up when I didn't show pictures of what I want. So go to your make-up trial with pictures of what you want or else you'd be giving your MUA a blank canvas.
TIP: If doing the DIY route, many MUAs suggest avoiding products based in titanium dioxide or talc because they don't have a glide-like quality as products based in silicone.
